Anna Barratt I Gemma Copp I Joan Jones
This new film work by Swansea-based artists, Anna Barratt, Gemma Copp and Joan Jones, explores planetary and outer-planetary themes of loss, emptiness, futility and dislocation.
Creating a feeling of the impending extinction of human life, they trudge through eerily beautiful natural settings. Their costumes and gestures suggest a sense of abandonment and defiance, lending the idyllic scenery a foreboding bleakness. In increasingly turbulent times, politically, ecologically and psychologically, the work attempts to map out the experience of life lived on the very edge of existence.
